About The Youth Development Trust
The Te Awamutu Boxing Academy follows a model that uses boxing as a vehicle to provide transformative change for young people (9yrs – 18yrs). We are governed and resourced by our local Te Awamutu Youth Development Trust but are a part of a wider collective of New Zealand academies through the Billy Graham Youth Foundation (BGYF). Through this collective we are able to gain a high level of training and knowledge for our coaching programme, as well as creating an abundance of opportunities for our young people (scholarships for outward bound, connection & development camps with youth from other academies). BGYF academies share the same values (Passport to Success programme) and a vision for 'champion young people who positively contribute to our community'. Through our classes we use the BGYF Champions Coaching Programme which is designed to engage young people across every demographic, and provide them with an environment where they develop strong bonds with those around them. The programme is values based in line with our Passport to Success, and provides structured progression through a series of foundational boxing skills. BGYF Champion Young People are those who not only succeed for themselves, but consider the impact of their lives on those around them.
