About Andrew MacPherson
Born and bred in Kihikihi, Andrew went to Te Awamutu College followed by Massey University Veterinary School. Andrew practiced as a Veterinary Surgeon in Europe and at VE Vets Te Awamutu for 20 years, before moving to Wellington to take up a position as CEO of a Vet Pharmaceutical company. Andrew has held several senior executive roles including CEO in a range of industries.
At the same time as leaving TA, Andrew & Nic invested with another couple in a dairy farm which they developed. They purchased further farms in the Manawatu, before selling and purchasing Waipaoa Station in Gisborne. He also commenced his governance career at the same time. They set up the Waipaoa Station Farm Cadet Training Trust. After selling Waipaoa, they are now are partners in a West Coast Dairy farm
Andrew has also held a number of board roles including Westland Milk Products, AgResearch, OSPRI he currently chairs Farmax a division of FarmIQ and Focus Genetics a subsidiary of Pamu (Landcorp). Andrew is also an investor in SLC ventures (a partner in Spring Sheep Milk), and represents the Waipa and King Country on the Waikato Regional Council. He was recently made a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors and is a Fellow of the Institute of Managers and Leaders, and also holds an MBA with distinction from Massey University.
