Kayla’s time to give back to Te Awamutu Businesses

Kayla Heeringa has spent her career working in and for Te Awamutu businesses and has recently joined the Board of the Te Awamutu Chamber of Commerce. In this story, we go into Kayla’s background and look ahead to where she wants to see the Te Awamutu Chamber head in future.

A born and bred Te Awamutu local, Kayla has firmly established herself in business circles and is looking to give back to local businesses through her role as the Secretary on the Te Awamutu Chamber Board.

Upon finishing her schooling in Te Awamutu, Kayla followed her passion for business and accounting and took up a role at Te Awamutu accountancy firm, Kelly & Bryant (now Findex), where she worked for five years before going on to have her children.

Upon returning to the work force she spent two years working at The Good PA (now Varntige) helping small businesses manage their finances as a qualified bookkeeper, before moving on to become the Financial Administrator at Learning Matters as a part time position while her children were still young.

Kayla moved on to the position as Systems Accountant at Waipa District Council for a year, before finishing her Certificate in Financial Services and taking up a role at The Lime Group, where she is currently based in Cambridge and will be servicing the Waipa region as a Mortgage Adviser.

Kayla’s passion for all things business has led her to hold a NZ Diploma in Business, NZ Bookkeepers Certificate and a Certificate in Financial Services.

Outside of her many commitments, Kayla enjoys spending time with her husband Damian and her children Holly and Kyle. She has a passion for helping people and sees herself dedicating more of her time to other boards and committees in the future.

“I would like to see the Te Awamutu Chamber membership numbers grow, and members given more opportunities, benefits and referral sources. There is a huge amount of effort going on in the background to bring better benefits to our current members in 2021 and beyond” says Kayla.

We have enjoyed welcoming Kayla onto the Board and look forward to utilising her sound financial and business background to benefit the Te Awamutu Chamber and its members and we’re excited to have her on board.
